Dancing On Ice 2023: Mollie Gallagher is unveiled as fifth star for ITV show

Los Angeles: Coronation Street star Mollie Gallagher is the fifth celebrity to sign up for the new series of Dancing on Ice. The news was announced on Thursday’s episode of Lorraine, with the 24-year-old actress sharing: ‘I’ve been keeping it a secret but I can tell everyone now.

‘I’ve not got the best coordination so when people find out they will laugh, but I don’t want to spend my life saying “I can’t do this, I can’t do that”‘.’

The actress – who plays Nina Lucas on the ITV soap – revealed she’d been seeking advice from her Corrie co-stars, saying: ‘I’ll be getting all the tips I can because I’m going to need it!’

While Mollie may need some advice on the skating she’ll have no problem with nailing the performance aspects required on the ice.  Last year, the talented star scooped Best Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards after gripping viewers with the hate crime storyline alongside her on-screen boyfriend d Seb Franklin  – played by Harry Visinoni.

While the soap did forewarn viewers that the scenes would be distressing, some fans were upset enough to make an official complaint to Ofcom regarding the harrowing portrayal.  It comes after Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson was announced as the fourth celebrity to sign up for the show, which is set to air on ITV in January 2023..

Revealing the news on his YouTube channel, Nile, 26, said: ‘I’m going to be on ITV’s Dancing on Ice! This is a really cool thing. ‘I’ve certainly not done much ice-skating but I am so excited for the opportunity. I’m so excited to get into that routine and to feel like an athlete again.’
