RRR’s Naatu Naatu bags oscar award for best song; Alia Bhatt, Chiranjeevi among other celebs react

MUMBAI: It is a momentous day for India as RRR won the Oscar for Naatu Naatu in the Best Original Song category. It is the first Indian production and the second Indian song after Jai Ho to accomplish this achievement! This award was presented by Deepika Padukone.

Not only this, Guneet Monga’s The Elephant Whisperers won the award for Best Documentary Short film.

Expressing excitement about this achievement, several celebs took to their social media and tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Exceptional! The popularity of ‘Naatu Naatu’ is global. It will be a song that will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations to @mmkeeravaani @boselyricist and the entire team for this prestigious honour. India is elated and proud. #Oscars”.

Actress Alia Bhatt posted a celebratory image on her Instagram. Using the story feature of the image-sharing social media platform, she shared the official announcement of the win along with the caption “Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhh” and several celebratory emojis.

Priyanka Chopra also shared her congratulations to the whole ‘RRR’ team as well as Keeravani for the win. She posted the moment the winner of the Best Original Song category was announced on her Instagram story.

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi also shared a tweet to mark the occasion. “ON TOP OF THE WORLD,” he wrote in a tweet congratulating the people involved in the win including his son Ram Charan, fellow co-actor in the movie Jr. NTR and Rajamouli himself.
