Shocking! A 29-year-old girl from Dhanbad killed for Dowry, family pleads for justice

Mumbai: A 29-year-old women, resident of Saraidhela, Dhanbad was found dead at her in-law’s abode in Mumbai. Her sister claims that she was murdered by her in-laws for dowry. Her sister, named Shruti Singh in her social media handle shared the horrific incident writing a letter to concerned authorities.
In her note to the concerned authorities, she wrote that the family has reasons to believe that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws out of their greed for dowry on 24th February 2023.”
She further revealed in the note that the wedding took place by consent of both the families. She wrote, “Surabhi married Sourabh Baranwal on 17th February 2021, it was a love marriage with the consent of both the families. But within a few months of marriage her husband and in-laws who stayed with them started harassing her for dowry. Sourabh (Husband) sold off all her jewellery which she got in the marriage to expand his business of optical and has also borrowed huge amount of loan from other sources.”
The victim’s sister also shared how the family harassed the girl as they were not able to repay debts. To repay the debt, the Baranwal family continued to harass her sister Surabhi and mother Sunayna Singh for money. When they realised we were not in a position to pay more they started harassing and torturing my sister both mentally and physically. They brutally tortured her till death.”
The accused family did not even arrive for the last rites and absconded immediately after the post-mortem.
Shruti Singh has urged the concerned authorities to take legal action as soon as possible as the perpetrators of the crime are using clout of contacts to get away with the crime.
Shruti alleged that the investigation process is painfully slow and the perpetrators of the crime are roaming free. They are even using their mobile phones and making calls using their clout of contacts. Till date no intent has been shown in tracing and arresting them. The accused are running their business and still not surrendered to police nor have they joined the investigation.
