Karan Johar opens up on being trolled for favouring Janhvi Kapoor over Sara Ali Khan, says ‘that’s completely untrue’

Karan Johar’s popular talk show is back with a bang after a hiatus of two years. So far, it’s been three weeks since the show started streaming. The first episode starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, while the second featured tinsel town BFFs, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan.

While many netizens lauded their camaraderie, there are many who slammed Johar for favouring Kapoor over Khan and calling the former hotter and more glamorous.

The filmmaker is currently promoting Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday. At the trailer launch event in Mumbai, the actor was asked about it. He vehemently denied doing so and quipped, “I have to say it is completely untrue. I was just feeling bad because Janhvi lost both rounds (the rapid fire and the quiz). I was perhaps trying to be nice. In that process, everybody read it wrong. I love both (Kapoor and Khan) dearly. They are wonderful artists and girls. I have known them since they were kids. There is no question of bias.”

Karan Johar further spoke about being irked by indifference and despite people commenting, there is a lot of love coming his way. Opening up about how does he process this kind of validation, the filmmaker said, “I have learnt to take it in my stride. I have no problem with hate. I have a big problem with indifference. I would love the love. As long as you don’t ignore me, I am fine. People can troll me and say whatever they want and I respect everyone’s opinions. I am not here to please the world. I just want to make sure the world knows me”.

Talking about Liger, helmed by Puri Jagannadh, the film marks Mike Tyson’s debut in the Indian cinema and is slated to release on 25th August.
