It was a great experience: Jaideep Ahlawat on working with Kareena

Jaideep Ahlawat is one of the brilliant actors in the industry and has proved his versatility with an impressive body of work. He is currently gearing up for the release of An Action Hero which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana. Ahead of the film’s release, the actor divulged in a freewheeling chat with the media.

On doing diverse roles

Be it web series or films, recently multiple projects Jaideep Ahlawat released showed various shades of him. Talking about why he yearns to pick a different role, the actor said, “I have been fortunate enough to get the chance of playing roles. It allows discovering oneself. As actors, we are prone to be bored by repetition, so whenever I have the chance, I eagerly anticipate trying something new.  I don’t wish to revisit my roles as I get out of it to look forward to something new.”

On the surge of OTT

The actor further shared his thoughts on actors getting due and parallel stardom offered due to OTT platforms. Said

“The pandemic catalyzed an upsurge in OTT, which led to the opening of numerous doors for opportunity. Many excellent performers who were unable to play lead roles back then are now able to do so because of this medium. Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Bajpayee, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, among others, who were previously minor players in huge films, now have a legacy of their own”, shares Jaideep.

On judgements due to social media

Jaideep also spoke about how social media has become a factor in deciding films’ and actors’ fates. He quipped, “I don’t post much on social media. But the problem arises when people assume you are a bad actor because you have fewer followers. The current generation is wary of these things. Everyone seems to be happy when you look at someone’s reel or post. But the truth is rather different.”

On his upcoming projects

On a parting note, the actor shared about his upcoming projects and said, “We are currently shooting for Pataal Lok season 2. As far as Devotion of Suspect X is concerned, it’s in the post-production stage. It was a great experience shooting with Kareena Kapoor Khan. It was also surreal uniting with Vijay as we started our acting journey together at FTII.”
