Alia Bhatt on adding Kapoor in her surname, “I will be doing it. I am happy to do it”

Alia Bhatt has been in the news a lot lately, and with all the good reason. She has had an incredible year so far, both personally and professionally. She is the only Bollywood actor who has had three successful films this year, including RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and the recently released dark comedy Darlings. After dating for several years, she married beau Ranbir Kapoor in April of this year. And now, the couple is preparing to embark on a new and exciting chapter in their lives as they prepare to welcome their first child together. In the midst of all of this, Alia has revealed that she will soon legally change her name to Alia Bhatt Kapoor.

Alia Bhatt recently discussed legally adopting the Kapoor surname in an interview. While her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, ‘promptly’ changed his marital status on his passport, she has not found the time to do so due to constant travel and work commitments following her wedding. For the uninitiated, Alia has been in London for the past few months filming her first Hollywood project, Heart of Stone, alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.

In addition, Alia stated, “I will be doing it (adding the Kapoor surname). I have to add all these things. I am happy to do it.” She elaborated further and added, “We are going to have a child now. I don’t want to be the Bhatt, whilst the Kapoors are travelling together; you know what I mean? I don’t want to feel left out.” However, Alia maintained that she will not be changing her screen name.

Alia was most recently seen in Darlings, a dark comedy directed by Jasmeet K Reen. It was her debut as a producer, and she appeared alongside Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Matthew. She is currently awaiting the release of the highly anticipated film Brahmastra, in which she will appear alongside Ranbir for the first time. It will be directed by Ayan Mukerji and will star Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in key roles. The film will be released in theatres on September 9th.

In addition, Alia is working on Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif.
