Review

Scream 6, a precursor yet stand-alone instalment in the Scream franchise, begins with a murder. The film is a wild journey that has the entire room shouting at the cruelty of the killings that are taking place left, right, and centre.

The film has an incredible tale where you think you know who the killer is right after the first murder, but what if the villain becomes a victim? This is exactly what happens when you believe you know everything.

The film is a rollercoaster ride that does not allow the viewers to take a breath for even a second. You want to pause the film to catch your breath, but you can’t because the tale is so insane that you begin to enjoy the savagery.

The filmmaker makes no attempt to tone down the film, which clearly highlights its realism. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, These two wonderful girls portray sisters, and what a performance they give. The way they present themselves is incredible, and full marks for retaining the atmosphere throughout, and the way Melissa throws comedy without losing the essence is really outstanding.

Moving on to the characters, at first it appears that the plot concentrates around two sisters and their two friends who survived the Ghostface massacre, but as the drama progresses, you realize how each character builds the story to make it work and succeed in sending chills down the audience’s spine.

As previously said, there is no primary protagonist; rather, the tale focuses on these four young people, all of whom give their all to the film.

Moving on to the technicalities, editing crew, take a bow; honestly, what a camera placement; what shots; get ready to jump out of your chairs, everyone. This is not a horror film, but I’m sure you’ll be afraid when asked, “What is your favourite scary movie?” after seeing it.

Although those who have seen the previous parts will be familiar with this question, believe me when I say that this film is brutal to the extreme.

The film’s background score is excellent. The crew has made certain that there is pin-drop silence to build suspense and scary cries to make you hide beneath your pillow.

Conclusion

A scary-scary non-horror film that you should watch, but be prepared for some restless nights.
