Veteran Telugu filmmaker Sagar, alias Vidyasagar Reddy, died in the early hours of Thursday at his Chennai home at the age of 70. He was afflicted with age-related problems. He was born in the Andhra Pradesh district of Guntur and completed his education in Chennai. In 1983, he made his directorial debut with Rakasiloya. As a filmmaker, he has directed over 35 films. Stuvartupuram Dongalu was his breakthrough film.
Sagar is best known for directing action films starring actors such as Bhanu Chander, Suman, Arun Pandian, Vinod, and Krishna Ghattamaneni. Public Rowdy, Daadi, Osi Naa Maradala, Anveshana, Action No.1, Khaidi Brothers, and others are among his major films. He was also the president of the Telugu Directors Association three times.
