Vijay Deverakonda on the North-South divide: I am looking forward to the day when it’s just Indian cinema and actors

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s much-awaited Pan-India film Liger’s trailer was unveiled on 21st July. After a mammoth event in Hyderabad, the team arrived in Mumbai for the trailer launch of the film. The event was attended by the cast and makers of the film and graced by Ranveer Singh’s presence.

During the press conference at the event, the actor was asked about his excitement in the Hindi cinema and how he see the crossbreed of two cinemas. Talking about his love to tell stories to a large audience, Vijay said, “I see it as a personal dream and ambitions coming to life”.

He further expressed gratitude towards Ranveer Singh and quipped about the north and south industry working with each other. He asserted, “The film fraternity has always been an industry where technicians and actors from the South have been working in North and vice-versa. In fact, actors like Anil Kapoor and Sridevi made their debut down South. It’s been an industry which has always been working with each other. It’s just that now we are doing cinema where the entire country watches and it’s about time that this happens. I am looking forward to the day when it is no longer called North and South and just called Indian cinema and actors. That is what we should look forward to.”

Boxing legend Mike Tyson will also be making his debut in the Indian cinema with the flick. He will be seen in a cameo in Vijay Deverakonda’s starter and a glimpse of it is seen in the trailer. Sharing his experience of working with Mike Tyson, the actor said, “My mother was very scared and was constantly praying whenever I was shooting with Mike Tyson. She even applied sacred ash and vermilion before we jetted off to shoot and called my crew member to ensure my safety. Despite that, I still got punched during the shoot (chuckles).”
