Vijay decides to compensate filmmakers after the failure of his latest release

Mumbai| ‘Liger,’ starring Vijay Deverakonda, has reportedly underperformed at the box office, leaving the producers in the red. The film was made on a large scale and extensively promoted across the country. The film earned only Rs 18 crore in its first week of release in Hindi.

As a result of the film’s commercial failure, Vijay Deverakonda is said to have decided to compensate the filmmakers. According to a leading portal, the lead actor will pay Charmee Kaur and other co-producers a portion of his remuneration, which is estimated to be more than Rs 6 crore.

‘Liger,’ directed by Puri Jagannadh, marked Vijay’s Bollywood debut and starred Ananya Panday as his leading lady. Following ‘Liger,’ Vijay will work again with director Puri Jagannadh on ‘Jana Gana Mana.’ Previously, a leading news agency exclusively revealed that director Puri Jagannadh intends to compensate distributors who have suffered losses as a result of ‘Liger”s box office failure. Warangal Srinu, a South Indian distributor, confirmed that the filmmaker will travel to Hyderabad to personally investigate the compensation process.

Vijay Deverakonda made his Bollywood debut with ‘Liger.’ In response to this, he told a news portal, “Initially, I felt I was not ready (for Bollywood), like immediately after ‘Arjun Reddy’. I didn’t feel I was ready to do a national cinema. I needed my own journey to get to this point and take on the responsibility of national cinema. ‘Liger’ was the first film I was ready as a person, actor and as a script it felt perfectly right to take it to India.
