Varun Dhawan on Bollywood films not performing well: 7-8 major flops have happened in South cinema also

Varun Dhawan is one of the most dashing actors in the industry, and there is no denying that currently, the actor is on cloud nine as his much-anticipated movie JugJugg Jeeyo is soon going to hit theatres. This family drama is all about emotions and entertainment.

In a recent media interaction, the actor opened up about some major Bollywood films debacle, what keeps a marriage going, sharing screen space with Neetu Kapoor, and much more.

Talking about South Cinema gaining prominence and the face of cinema changing post-pandemic, the actor said, “Cinema is doing well right now. The audience has the right to watch the cinema they want to watch. Hollywood films have been accepted so well by people for so many years. It is because they are liking it and, therefore, they are watching it. For instance, I enjoyed watching KGF Chapter 2, which has been one of the highest-grossing movies this year.”

Elucidating his thoughts on some of the major Hindi films not doing well at the box office, Varun quipped, “7-8 major flops have happened in their cinema also. That has also happened because nothing was released in the last 2 and a half years. I feel if a good film comes out it works. The audience won’t watch a bad film, whether it is English, Hindi or a South film.”

When asked what is the mantra of a successful marriage, he said, “I feel it’s important to be good friends first. I also feel that two people should know each other really well. They should be aware of the issues that can stem later. There should also be transparency otherwise it can rock the boat a lot.”

The actor shared screen space with late actor Rishi Kapoor in Student of the Year. His wife and veteran actress Neetu Kapoor is getting back on the silver screen with the film. Sharing his experience of working with Neetu Kapoor, Varun averred, “She is undoubtedly amazing in the film. She always shared anecdotes related to Rishi Sir and expressed her nervousness as she was returning on sets after a hiatus and that too without him.”

On a parting note, the actor spoke about his expectations from the film as this flick marks his film’s silver screen release after 2 years. He said, “As of now my only expectation is that people thoroughly enjoy the film and laugh. Despite having a certain percentage and stakes in the film, people having a good time is something I am looking forward to.”
