Sanjay Leela Bhansali released the first look of his upcoming series Heeramandi at an event on February 18th. The Ram Leela director then spoke extensively about how he understands what the public wants him to produce.
According to the filmmaker, “Any filmmaker who says he knows the audience is being fooled. Nobody knows the audience. They are our everything ‘Mai-Baap’.”He subsequently claims that a filmmaker can only convey his own self and that he should be aware of what the public expects from him in particular.
“A film maker should believe in what he is doing rather than thinking about what somebody wants.”He believes that a film must be made from the heart. Later, the filmmaker admits that everything has changed since covid and said, “The people has changed they expect out of the box content. The demand has increased.”
The Gangubai Kathiawadi director also admits that several people told him not to film GANGUBAI because people would not like it. He revealed, “I tick marked all the wrong boxes but it worked. That should be the belief.”
