Rohit Shetty Joins the North-South debate and says, “There is no rivalry between two”

According to Rohit Shetty, the growing popularity of south Indian films in India should not be seen as the demise of Bollywood.

“When the generation changes in the media, everyone thinks it’s all fresh.” And the tendency that Bollywood khatam (finish) gives certain people a high, but Bollywood khatam nahi hoga (Bollywood will never be finished),” Shetty remarked during a press conference today.

Talking about the north-he said “there is no rivalry between the two, the filmmaker believes that both north and south Indian cinema may thrive. Rohit spoke on the effect of south Indian cinema on Bollywood while attending a promotional event in Mumbai with actor Ranveer Singh.”

Rohit further stated that since the 1960s, south Indian films have been recreated in Hindi. “If you look into it, the south has been present since the 1960s and 1950s. Pyaar Kiye Jaa, directed by Shashi Kapoor, was a remake of a South Indian film. In the 1980s, when Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna were at their zenith, a new lad, Kamal Haasan sir, entered the movie industry with Ek Duje Ke Liye, and it was a smash “claimed the director.

Rohit also discussed the ‘superstar heroines’ of the 1980s and 1990s, Sridevi and Jaya Prada, who first appeared in south Indian films before making their Bollywood debuts. He also emphasised the importance of south Indian filmmakers to the Hindi cinema industry.

Rohit Shetty is currently filming his forthcoming series, Indian Police Force, starring actor Sidharth Malhotra. Cirkus, which will be released in theatres in December 2022, is also being worked on by Rohit and Ranveer.
