I feel there is a lot of pressure in modern industry: Ayesha Jhulka

Aakruti Bagla

Mumbai| Actor Ayesha Jhulka, known for 90s hits such as Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Khiladi, and Himmatwala, among others is all set to make her OTT debut with Tanuja Chandra’s suspense thriller Hush Hush. The actress had taken a sabbatical after her 2010 release ‘Ada…A Way of Life’ and had made a comeback with ‘Genius’ in 2018.

Recently, during a media interaction ahead of the release of the series, when Absolute India News asked the actress about the reason behind her sabbatical, she quipped,

“Acting is and will always be my first love. The reason behind taking a break was I realized that I was not getting what I wanted to do. Since I had entered the industry at a very young age, I was in a phase where I took up projects due to certain conditions. It was 6 months after working with Vijaya Mehta on the play Purush, I discovered that there is a formula to acting. Had I not done that workshop, I don’t think it would have been possible to do justice to the character in Hush Hush.”

The actress further spoke to us about how working in the industry differs now as compared to 90s. Talking about how things were simple back then while it’s pressurizing now, the actress shared, “Today, I feel there is a lot of pressure. During that time, we were leading a simple industry life. We were having fun. But the world is changing for the better and we need to get used to it as things keep changing.”
