Aakruti Bagla

Mumbai| Rohit Saraf started young and was noticed in films like Hichki, The Sky is Pink among others. This year, Rohit had back-to-back releases with Vikram Vedha and Mismatched 2. Absolute India News caught up with the actor for a candid conversation. Excerpts:

On back-to-back releases within 15 days

Sharing his feeling about adulation coming his way, Rohit shared, “It’s a great feeling. At this time I feel that I don’t think I have enough bandwidth to let everything sink in. Ideally, I prefer a fine gap between two releases so that there is enough time to enjoy as a lot of hard work goes behind everything.”

On Vikram Vedha’s poor Box-office performance

While the film was appreciated by the audience, as it entered the second week, it could not make enough money. Talking about it the actor shared, “Sometimes there are films that do not make the so-called numbers but are good films. For Vikram Vedha, I didn’t have to bear the brunt of it as Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan were the main faces. I went, did my job, learnt a lot and came out of it. In the end, I am happy with the fact that we made a good film.”

On the National Crush tag

Touted to be the National Crush, the actor shared personally and professionally what are the pros and cons of it. “Professionally, irrespective of tag, my focus is primarily to give the best. Personally, it’s a very special and incredible feeling that I am cherishing.

About not getting enamored by fame

The actor revealed how he manages not to get enamored by fame and stay grounded. He shared, “The grounding comes organically as I am surrounded by the kind of people in my life who are constantly giving me reality checks. Also having worked with people like Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, and Alia Bhatt among others, I have seen the kind of stardom they enjoy but who are they as people that speaks volumes. I am not starstruck when I meet them, but I am in awe of them when I see who they are. I have always been inspired by that.”

On working with seasoned actors

The actor has shared screen space with actors like Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, and Rajkumar Rao among others, shares whether he ever had the apprehension of getting overshadowed. He said, “Not really, instead I feel very grateful for the fact that I have that opportunity. It takes a lot of hard work to bag projects like these. Also I believe that most of the characters that I have played have added something to the story. When I am cast for something, it’s been after an audition.”

He further added, “I have worked with the best from the business. And whoever I have worked with, are kind of people who look forward to elevating your performance along with theirs because they realise that film is bigger than them. I know how kind they have been to me.”
