Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming show Dr Arora is all set to stream on an OTT platform. Gaurav Parajuli, widely known for his role in Tandav; gets in a candid conversation with Absolute Indian news. Gaurav Parajuli talks about his character, his experience of working with Kumud Mishra to having fun on set.

While talking about his character in the series Gaurav Parajuli said, “My character is a man with a tough appearance but a kind heart on the inside. In our culture, he is the definition of ‘Mard’. We sense a slight pinch of innocence in him. He loves, he has a heart, and he occasionally shows a gun as well”. While continuing the chat, Gaurav also points out the reason to say yes to the part, “Firstly, god has been kind, that’s why I said yes. Secondly, Imtiaz sir, Kumud sir, Sajid sir, were the part of the series, why would I say no? ”

According to the actor, working with Imtiaz Ali is a feeling for him, “Don’t you think ‘Imtiaz sir’ just taking this name is an emotion? That is how I felt as well. With this name, you go to a mystic place altogether.” Continuing his conversation, Gaurav jokingly said, “Bas Kun Faya Kun kardiya mene.”

The series deals with an important issue that is considered taboo in our country. Sharing fear about the same, the actor quipped, “Forget the public. I was scared to tell this, my parents. I was worried that, what will I tell them. What am I doing?. Later I thought if I being an actor will not do it then what will we expect from the public? But I am telling you when you will hear the song or you will watch the series. You will understand that the topic has been put forth in such a way maintaining the fine line that you will be comfortable watching it with the family.”

Later, when asked if humour is the only way to tackle such heavy issues: Gaurav replies, “Yes, absolutely. For example, homoeopathy tablets used to taste nice because they were sweet. Similarly, sex is an intense topic and we need to add ingredients to make things palatable for the audience.”

Despite the serious subject matter, the cast of Dr Arora had a lot of fun on set. Gaurav highlighted one of these events. “Kumud sir is a cutie badass. We used to have this friendly banter on set; where we used to challenge each other. Kumud sir used to tease me by saying ‘you didn’t perform well, let me show you.’ In the beginning, I took it seriously as I am a very competitive person. Later I realised he was just teasing me.
