Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films has always remained in the news due it’s controversial nature. His latest movie, which is a biographical crime drama ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is one such film, based on one of the chapters of Hussain Zaidi’s book “Mafia Queens of Mumbai”. It chronicles the journey of the indomitable queen of Kamathipura, Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Talking about the star casts and their performances, from being the glamorous “Student of the year” to “the lady gangstar of Mumbai” Alia Bhatt, portraying the role of Gangubai, has definitely lived upto the expectations. Ajay Devgn is outstanding as Lala. Vijay Raaz has effortlessly pulled off his role as a eunach and wish we could just see more of him.
Huma Qureshi’s special dance number also cannot be missed.
Shantanu Maheshwari makes his debut in Bollywood with the film where he plays the good-boy delightfully and convincingly. Reuniting with Bhansali after Padmaavat, actor Jim Sarbh also delivers a decent performance as a journalist. Talking about the music, none of the song other than
‘Dholida’ is outstanding.

Overall, the beauty of film lies in how it shows Gangubai’s character transformation through various stages in her life which makes the film a must watch.
