Filmmaker Sawan Kumar Tak passes away

Mumbai| Bollywood filmmaker Sawan Kumar Tak passed away in Mumbai on Thursday. He was 86. Sawan Kumar Tak has been suffering from lung-related ailments for long. He was rushed to hospital a few days back as his condition got critical.

Actor Salman Khan mourned his demise and offered condolences on his social media handle. Sharing a picture he wrote, “May u rest in peace my dear Sawaan ji. Have always loved n respected u.”

Confirming the same, his nephew told a leading news portal, “According to the doctors, he has died due to heart attack and multiple-organ failure.”

Speaking about his deteriorating health, he further told the news portal that, “Sawan Kumar Tak was suffering from pulmonary disease for a long time. For the past several days, he was feeling very weak and he was feeling feverish. We thought that he Pneumonia must have happened, but after being admitted to the hospital, it was found that his lungs were completely damaged. Sawan Kumar, who was admitted for treatment in the ICU, was also not working properly. In such a situation, his condition became very critical.”

The veteran filmmaker is said to have launched actors like late Sanjeev Kumar and comedy king Mehmood in Bollywood. He debuted as a producer in 1967 with the film ‘Naunihal’. He later made his directorial debut in 1972 with ‘Gomti Ke Kinare’, starring legendary actress Meena Kumari. It also went on to become the last film of her acting career.
