Based on a true event, Runway 34 revolves around Captain Vikrant Khanna played by Ajay Devgn, a flying prodigy, whose flight takes a mysterious course after take-off from an international destination.

The trailer of the Runway 34 was launched today in the presence of the film’s Director and lead actor, Ajay Devgn, along with the rest of his cast, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh.
The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.

For the uninitiated, Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan have worked in several movies together including Satyagraha, Khakee, Major Saab and more.

When asked about directing and working with Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn recalled directing a schedule of their film Major Saab, when its director Tinnu Anand fell ill. He said “But this is the first time I worked with him in a full-fledged film (as a director). I’ve known him ever since I was a child. I would visit his set often. Later, I went on to work with him in nearly six films. To say anything about him would be a cliched because I haven’t seen any other hardworking, professional actor. The energy and dedication he works with is amazing. Even if he is facing any problem, once he’s on set, he forgets everything. I feel inspired to do better work when I look at him,” he added.

Further speaking about casting, Ajay Devgn revealed that he might not have made the film if Amitabh Bachchan hadn’t agreed to come on board. Ajay quipped, “In this film, for Mr Bachchan’s role, if he wouldn’t have agreed, I don’t even know if I would be able to cast (anyone else). I don’t think I would be making the film.”

Rakul Preet Singh, who had shared screen space with Ajay in De De Pyaar De, shared her thoughts on her experience of being directed by the actor.
In the film, she essays the role of Ajay’s co-pilot.
She said, “The captain of the film was amazing. I have never in my life shot with 7, 11, or 13 cameras together. Imagine so many cameras around. Like Rohit sir said, Ajay sir is among the technically soundest directors we have here.”

Runway 34 is scheduled to release on the big screen on April 29.
