Mumbai| Navratri has begun, and today is the second day of the celebration. This day is dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini’s worship. Goddess Durga in this form represents Goddess Parvati’s severe penance, and her unmarried form is worshipped as Goddess Brahmacharini.
In an exclusive interview with Absolute India news, Nyrraa M Banerji, who is currently playing Pishachini in the serial Pishachini, shares her plans and her way of celebrating, and much more.
Talking about the festival the actress said, “The Maha life has begun yesterday when Durga Mata gathers all the shakti to fight the demons. Navratri is not what I celebrate because I am a Bengali. Ashtami, Navmi, and Dussehra are the three important days for us when Durga Ma reigns supreme.”
Later talking about the traditional style of celebrating this occasion Nyrraa added “We get up early during those three days and give Anjali (the pooja). We also offer flowers and prayers to Mata and visit pandals to see Durga Mata’s idols. Throughout these three days, we get up, put on dresses, and eat delicious non-vegetarian food. There is a great deal of dance, music, and even drama.” The actress also expresses her excitement and plans for this year as “During these days of the year we meet our relatives and because of pandemic we haven’t celebrated much for the past 2 years. And as I was born and raised in Mumbai, so I haven’t seen much of Kolkata, but I will say that Mumbai has equally amazing Pandals. For me, Navratri is mostly about playing dandiya, hanging out with friends, and relaxing.”
