Asha Parekh, to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award

Mumbai| Asha Parekh, a Bollywood veteran, will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2020. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon by a leading news agency.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest cinematic honour. Rajinikanth received it in 2019. It is given in memory of Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the “Father of Indian Cinema” for creating the first Hindi film, Raja Harishchandra.

Asha made her adult acting debut in Dil Deke Dekho (1959), opposite Shammi Kapoor. She has appeared in a number of films for which the public has praised her work. Asha left acting to become a television director for the Gujarati series Jyoti.

Asha produced serials such as Palash ke Phool, Baaje Payal, Kora Kagaz, and Dal Mein Kaala through her production company. She was a judge on 9X’s reality show Tyohaar Dhamaaka in 2008.

 She is frequently seen on Instagram with her other celebrity friends and on talent reality television shows. Last year, she celebrated her birthday with senior actors Waheeda Rahman and Jackie Shroff.
