Sport desk : Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan legspinner, will again turn up for Adelaide Strikers for the 10th season of the Big Bash League, the team confirmed on Thursday (October 22). Rashid, who made his BBL debut in 2017, is one of only six players from Adelaide Strikers to have featured in 40 or more matches. Rashid has also scored 253 runs in 27 innings at a strike rate of 161.14. “I’m so happy that I am able to play for the Strikers again in a big tenth season of the Big Bash, and I have loved this competition from the very beginning,” said Rashid, who is currently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. “The Strikers have been like a family to me since I joined them, and I am so thankful to the fans who have been supporting me and made me feel like Adelaide is my home.”

Although other teams showed interest in Rashid, the legspinner pledged his loyalty to the Strikers for at least the upcoming season. Speaking about his return to the team, head coach Jason Gillespie said: “Rashid has been such a quality player and person for the city of Adelaide and the Strikers from the moment he arrived.”We’re thrilled his world-class bowling and exciting batting will continue to entertain our loyal fans, and we want to again be challenging for a second title when the tournament begins.” The 2020-21 edition of the Big Bash League is expected to start in the second week of December, although the schedule hasn’t been announced yet.
