State Government will help poor and farmers in overcoming every crisis: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan conducted tour of flood affected Handiya tehsil of Harda district on Tuesday. He met the flood affected people and enquired about their wellbeing. Addressing the flood affected people in Handiya, Chouhan said that the state government is with the people in the crisis of this severe flood disaster. There is no need to worry; all possible help will be provided.

Chouhan said that relief will be provided soon after full assessment of damage to crops, houses and goods as well as every loss. Affected people will get benefit of both RBC 6-4 and crop insurance. The lives of the affected people will be brought back on track. All arrangements will be proper. Ministers, Public Representatives including Commissioner, IG, Collector and the entire administrative team will be alert to help the public, so that better arrangements can be made.

Chouhan further stated that after taking over the reign of the state, the state government has ensured full arrangements to tackle challenges of corona crisis and made available the resources. We will help people in overcoming this crisis of flood disaster soon.

Chouhan said that flood situation was caused by heavy rains on 28 and 29 as well as release of continuous water from overflowing Bargi, Tawa, Barna dams Chouhan said ‘Hamara Pehla Dharm Janta ki Seva Hai’ (Our first religion is service to the people). When people are in trouble, Shivraj cannot stay at home. In such a crisis, control room was set up and I, along with Chief Secretary and DGP maintained close watch 24 hours continuously without sleep. The Commissioners, IGs, Collectors and SPs were also directed to conduct relief and rescue operations continuously without sleep. In the crisis of severe flood disaster, I was receiving calls constantly saying ‘Mama Hamein Bacha Lo”, people were stranded in the flood. I talked to the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Chiefs of the Defence Forces and immediately received help of the India Air Force and Army. Army Jawans, NDRF, SDERF, Home Guard including entire administrative team and social activists protected every single life working day and night. Chouhan said that 300 people stranded in floods were rescued by airlifting and taken to a safe place by the team of Air Force. Chouhan also appreciated the efforts made by youths, volunteers and public representatives in saving lives of people stranded in floods in Handiya tehsil. He further mentioned that it is a matter of satisfaction that we succeeded in saving lives of people.

Chouhan said that for the first time in the history, banks were opened on Sunday and crops of the farmers were insured to protect the farmers from crops loss. He mentioned that those poor, who were not getting ration earlier, will also start getting ration from this month itself. Fifty k.g. ration will also be made available to people, whose houses were submerged in the flood affected areas. An amount of Rs. 4600 crore will be transferred to the accounts of 20 lakh farmers, he added.
