Payal Rohatgi: I was more deserving than Munawar Faruqui

By Shachi Chaturvedi

Mumbai, Payal Rohatgi (born 9 November 1984) is a Hindi film actress and reality TV star. In 2008, she competed in the reality show Bigg Boss. In 2022, she was a contestant in reality television show Lock Upp, where she came out as a runner up.

In an exclusive interview with AbsoluteIndiaNews, she talks about every thing, from her time in prison to her personal life.

Who was Your biggest support?

My greatest supporter was my companion, Sangram Ji because I knew he was outside defending me, and by the end, I realised how much my followers had backed me up and raised their voices whenever it was needed.

Do feel people have bullied you?

Yes, I believe I was bullied, and everyone has seen it. People presume it was my strategy to be known as the lone warrior, but the truth is that I’ve always tried to build strong relationships, but it backfired on me. I’ve discovered that I should avoid making emotional investments in reality shows.

People gave you derogatory remarks, how did you cope with that pressure, alone?

I knew I didn’t belong with these words. My thought process has been “Sachai pareshan ho Sakti hai parajit Nahi” (Truth can be troubled, but not defeated), and I have stuck to it throughout. Those words have never meant anything to me. I am sad that people thought they can bully me because I am sorry no one can bully me.

How will you explain the reality show now v/s then?

Reality shows have evolved in recent years. The real and the fake are easily distinguishable. One cannot fabricate relationships with 24*7 streaming. With social media, things have become clearer.

Do you think you were more deserving than the winner?

Yes, I believe I was more deserved and a true badass, but everything happens for a reason, and I believe God has bigger plans in store for me. I will not question the outcomes as I gave my hundred per cent.

What are your future plans?

I’m hoping to work as an actor or a reality show star again. I truly want to get back in front of the camera, whether it’s for a movie, a web series, or anything else, depending on what role comes my way.

When are we hearing the wedding bells?

Sangram Ji has stated his birthday. So, most likely, we’ll tie the knot in July 2022.
Absolute India News posed some tense questions to Lockupp runner-up Payal Rohatgi in an interview. Payal has answered every question, from her time in prison to her personal life.
