‘MINIMUM,’ an immigrant Indian drama set in Belgium, will star Saba Azad, Namit Das, and Geetanjali Kulkarni. Rumana Molla, a writer-actor and 2022 Berlinale Talent, will direct the worldwide drama for the first time. Set in Belgium, the film explores transactional marriage and migration through the lens of love, affection, and friendship.

Saba Azad, Geetanjali Kulkarni , and Namit Das are among the cast members, with Rumana herself playing a key role.MINIMUM tells the story of Fauzia, a newlywed immigrant who finds herself trapped in a house that isn’t hers with her mother-in-law, Ruxana. She discovers that everything she was told about her husband Ali was a lie and loses all hope until she hires a French tutor, Laurie, to teach her the fundamentals. Fauzia learns to demand more than the bare minimum as she forms an unusual friendship, secrets are uncovered, and secrets are revealed.

Irada, for instance, was nominated for two National Awards in 2017. With the approval of Minimum, Rumana’s year began on a high note, as she was selected for the famous Berlinale Talent Program in February. Aside from her, the film features three former Berlinale Talents: cinematographer Pooja Gupte, Serbian Line Producer Marija Stojnic, and producer Shiladitya Bora.

Shiladitya Bora and Radhika Lavu are producing the film, which is set to begin in June 2022. Bora previously produced Marathi films Picasso, which recently received a Special Mention at the 2020 National Film Awards, and Yours Truly, a drama starring Soni Razdan, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aahana Kumra, was premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2018.

For the unversed the picture is set to be released in June 2023.
