Shraddha Kapoor starts filming for a horror prequel

Mumbai: For the past 15 months, Shraddha Kapoor has been filming Luv Ranjan’s film with Ranbir Kapoor. Since the yet-untitled rom-com went into production in January 2021, the actress has not taken on any new projects. Shraddha has begun arranging her next project, which will begin in August-September, as the film nears completion. Shraddha’s next project after the Luv Ranjan romcom will be a horror comedy for Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, according to a news portal.

A source close to the development informed “Dinesh Vijan is working on multiple horror comedies and plans to build a cinematic universe around them. He has already introduced Shraddha Kapoor as Stree and Janhvi Kapoor as Roohi and will soon present Varun Dhawan in the never-seen-before avatar of a Bhediya in Amar Kaushik’s next monster comedy. Expanding the universe further, the team is now working on the second part of these movies to establish the lead characters before they start crossing paths in each other’s stories. Vijan’s next film in the MHCU tells the backstory of the girl who came to Stree and the complications she brought along. It’s a prequel to ‘Stree’ and will see Shraddha reprising her role from the 2018 sleeper hit”

The Raiker Case will be directed by Marathi director Aditya Sarpotdar, who is known for directing films like Mauli, The Sholay Girl, Zombivali, and an OTT series. Sarpotdar is already working on a horror comedy called Kakuda with Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saqib Saleem. The Ronnie Screwvala movie centres around a legend of a weird curse in a community trapped in time and will be released straight on a streaming platform later this year. The filmmaker has completed Kakuda’s post-production work and will shortly begin prepping for the Shraddha Kapoor feature before it officially begins shooting in August 2022.

Meanwhile, Shraddha’s Nagin trilogy has been pushed back much more. The Vishal Furia-directed picture is a VFX-heavy movie that will take months to prepare and workshop, pushing the production date to December 2022. The Baaghi actress plays a shape-shifting icchadhaari who can do amazing things in the Nikhil Dwivedi production. Pankaj Parashar’s Chaalbaaz In London, Shraddha’s second project, has also been delayed because of budgetary difficulties.
