Karan Johar has been accused of stealing a Pakistani musician’s song for his next movie

Mumbai: Abrar Ul Haq, a Pakistani politician and musician, has accused producer-filmmaker Karan Johar of copying his song “Nach Punjaban” for the forthcoming film Jugjugg Jeeyo. Abrar took to Twitter to declare that he had not sold “Nach Punjaban” and that “producers like Karan Johar” should not duplicate tracks. He also threatened to sue for monetary damages.
Abrar further stated that this is the sixth time his song has been plagiarised, however, he did not specify whether he is referring specifically to Karan Johar or Bollywood in general.

“I have not sold my song “ Nach Punjaban” to any Indian movie and reserve the rights to go to court to claim damages. Producers like @karanjohar should not use copy songs. This is my 6th song being copied which will not be allowed at all. @DharmaMovies @karanjohar” read his tweet.

Reacting to this makers have recently released a statement with a picture which states “We have legally acquired the rights to adapt the song Nach Punjaban from the album Nach Punjaban released on iTunes on 1st January 2002 and is also available on Lollywood Classics’

YouTube channel, owned and operated by Moviebox Records Label, for the film Jug Jugg Jeeyo produced by Dharma Productions. All due credits shall be included across all platforms when the song releases.

As represented by Moviebox Records Label the said song copyrights exclusively vest with moviebox only with all valid documents.”

The film is a collaboration between two big production houses, directed by Raj Mehta. Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Manish Paul, and Prajakta Koli feature in the film.

In his introduction to the film, Johar stated that Jugjugg Jeeyo is a “family reunion you don’t want to miss.” He described the picture as “full of shocks, emotions, and a lot of drama.”
Jugjugg Jeeyo will be available on June 24, 2022.
