On doing diverse roles

With back-to-back releases like Maharani 2, Double XL and now Monica my darling, the actress has managed to showcase her versatility. Talking about playing diverse roles, she said, “It’s fun to experiment. As an artist, you are always greedy. I wish I got the opportunity to showcase my diversity earlier.”

On a rough phase in her career

The diva recently clocked 10 years in the industry. Talking about her struggling period and how she dealt with insecurities, the actress asserted, “I had a struggling period, but fortunately it didn’t last long. Also, I didn’t have anyone to mentor me, so I made my own set of mistakes. I also had my share of insecurities. But I have only suffered and lost out on projects. It’s post-pandemic that I became fearless and started to enjoy.”

On facing body-shaming

Talking about facing body shaming, the actress recalled, “I have faced body shaming. I came across a review of mine that read, ‘Huma is heavy to be a mainstream heroine. During the initial days, when you are constantly seeking external validation, such things hurt. But the thought process needs to be changed.”

On her production venture

The actress, who recently turned producer, shared what kind of producer she intends to be. She said, “I intend to be a serious producer who is not making films just for herself, but in general.”

Talking about allowing outsiders, the actress said, “I don’t believe in insider-outsider thing. I do believe that star kids get access easily due to influence, but eventually, luck and hard work play a major role. I truly believe that success can get delayed, but if you deserve something, you get it.”
