Mumbai| Kareena Kapoor Khan turns a year older today. To celebrate the special occasion, we’ve compiled a list of her five most memorable and iconic roles. From Poo to Daboo Kareena has aced it all.
Pooja Sharma – Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham
Pooja Sharma, also known as Poo, one of the most iconic on-screen characters, revealed her over-the-top – bubbly self. After Poo, Kareena became a major style icon for the kids of the 1990s, and there’s no denying that every millennial has grown up and adopted the traits she embodied. Kareena’s Poo was unapologetic and believed in self-love; he lives on in our memories.
Geet Dhillon – Jab We Met
Geet is a character who exudes positivity and speaks volumes about self-love. When Kareena Kapoor donned the role, it was truly justified. She is portrayed as a chatty, carefree, and extremely adorable Punjabi girl who refuses to accept a compromise. She is unafraid and courageous enough to love and stand up for herself. Kareena managed to connect with the audience by being fresh and inspiring, and she quickly became a household name.
Pia – 3 idiots
Kareena played Pia, a medical student who is family-oriented and dedicated to her father’s vision and career. She is shown to have a good sense of humour and to pull off her scenes flawlessly. Pia is a character that every adolescent can identify with: unapologetically bold and unafraid to love. When it was released in 2009, ‘3 idiots became one of the highest-grossing films ever made in the industry.
Chameli – Chameli
Kareena is portrayed in the film as ‘Chameli,’ an on-screen charismatic, witty, and amusing individual who aspires to live an honourable life by helping others. In real life, she is portrayed as a prostitute/sexual woman with a positive attitude toward her body. Kareena portrayed herself as strong, self-assured, and ruthless, shattering stereotypes of traditional women. This film was a defining moment in Kareena’s career, and she received a Filmfare award for it. The film’s creators also stated that ‘Chameli’ would not have been possible without her.
Daboo in Golmaal 3
When it comes to comedy in Bollywood, Daboo in Golmaal 3 added a spoonful of sass and, quite frankly, a bucketful of sense. If we’ve moved past Ajay Devgn’s do-not-attempt-at-home two-bike stunt, can we appreciate how Daboo in this instalment of the film single-handedly made this sequel the best of all?
