Deepika Padukone to be the only Indian actor to join the jury list for the 75th Cannes Film Festival

Actor Deepika Padukone will be a part of the Cannes Film Festival as a competition jury this year. According to the current speculation, Deepika, who has been a red carpet regular at the festival since 2017, would be expected to walk for all ten days.

French actor Vincent Lindon will be the president of the jury of the 75th Cannes Film Festival. Joining him on the jury along with Deepika are actor-director Rebecca Hall,  Noomi Rapace and Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, as well as directors Asghar Farhadi, Ladj Ly, Jeff Nichols and Joachim Trier.

In a statement to the press, Cannes described the icon as, ” Indian Actress, producer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur Deepika Padukone, is a huge star in her country. With over 30 feature films to her credit, she made her English language film debut as the female lead in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, co-starring with Vin Diesel. She also owns a production company which has produced films like Chhapaak and “83, in which she also starred, as well as the upcoming film The Intern. Credits include Gehraiyaan and Padmaavat, along side the award-winning and critically
acclaimed film Piku. In 2015, she had set up a foundation, whose programs and initiatives aim to destigmatize mental illness and raise awareness about the importance of mental health. In 2018, a Magazine named her one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.”

For the unversed, the Cannes Film Festival takes place from May 17-28.
