Anurag Kashyap: I come from a history of abuse so I understand what abuse is. So when someone accuses me of such allegations, it bothers me

Anurag Kashyap is a highly sought-after director in Bollywood. He has directed various films, including Manmarziyaan, Saand Ki Aankh, and Gangs of Wasseypur. He is now promoting his new project, Dobaaraa. During a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap broke his silence on the #MeToo Movement and addressed various points.

Anurag Kashyap told a journalist that it upsets him when someone accuses him of something improper since he was a victim of abuse in the past. The director of Gangs of Wasseypur stated, “That (the accusation) bothers me a lot. I come from a history of abuse so I understand what abuse is. So when someone accuses me of such allegations, it bothers me. You accuse me of murder, you accuse me of anything, I don’t care but when I am accused of something inappropriate and improper like that, it bothers me and it makes me very angry. Because I come from abuse, I have been abused so I understand what that means.”

He further said, “That last thing you want to do is do that to someone else, and when somebody says that, it bothers me.”

In terms of his next film, Dobaaraa, Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap’s third collaboration after Manmarziyaan and Saand Ki Aankh. The film is described as a new-age thriller. It is set to be released on August 19, this year. Dobaaraa will also represent Taapsee’s reunion with Pavail Gulati, in addition to Anurag Kashyap. Taapsee and Pavail previously appeared together in Anubhav Sinha’s 2020 film Thappad.
