Alia Bhatt says her obsession with body and weight took a toll on her

Alia Bhatt, has made great strides in her film career. In 2012, she made her Bollywood debut in Karan Johar’s film Student Of The Year. Alia was only 19 years old when the film premiered. She had previously stated in interviews that she had lost weight before entering Bollywood. In a recent conversation with a magazine, Alia revealed that actually entering the film industry at such a young age had a negative impact on her fascination with her body and weight.

Speaking to the magazine, Alia stated that she entered the film industry at the age of 17 and overheard conversations about how one should look. “You think that’s the way it’s supposed to be. And it took a bit of a toll on me in terms of my obsession with my body and my weight,” she said. She went on to say that it took a lot of effort to be kinder to her body and that she is now in the best place she has ever been, feeling more comfortable and happy with herself.

When asked what advice she would give to young women, Alia Bhatt said they should concentrate on being fit and active internally rather than constantly worrying over how they look on the outside. “It’s not about every little splodge of skin on your body. You can’t be squishing it and thinking, This is an issue. That is an issue,” she said. “I’m saying, if you pick on yourself first, then you’re inviting every other [person’s] negative thoughts towards your body,” she added.
