Actors like us, often don’t get many opportunities: Abhishek Bajaj

Aakruti Bagla

Abhishek Bajaj, who transitioned from modelling to acting on television, has now established himself in Bollywood. The actor is currently gearing up for his third Bollywood film Babli Bouncer. The film is helmed by Madhur Bhandarkar and also stars Tamannah Bhatia.

On being a part of Babli Bouncer

Talking about how excited he was to do this film, Abhishek Bajaj said, “I really wanted to do this film because before this movie and after Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui I rejected 4-5 big films. Initially, you don’t have a choice. When we say no to such projects it takes courage as you don’t get these opportunities often.”

On being choosy about projects

On asking, why he is being careful about choosing projects, the actor said, “I believe that talent is in the choices you make. Because if you make a wrong choice you might land somewhere else. At this stage, I can refuse to do a project but I am not in a position to choose it. To land the role I want to play, I have to work hard for it and show my potential. I feel these visionaries saw that in me.”(sic)

On his journey from TV to films

The actor marked his debut in Bollywood with SOTY 2. He went on to work with Abhishek Kapoor in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and now Madhur Bhandarkar. Talking about his journey, the actor averred, “Mai yeh kehta hu ki Heere ki parakh Johari ko hoti hai. My first film was with Dharma and what better start can I get? These all directors choose me. With me, it happened gradually. All you have to do is keep giving your best. Because actors like us don’t get many opportunities. One mistake and everything goes haywire.”

On OTT release being safe due to boycott trend

Talking about OTT being a safe space of release as films are getting boycotted at the drop of a hat, the actor quipped, “I feel in OTT numbers may not matter but reputation is at stake. Basically, the audience is yearning to see good content. You really have to deliver that otherwise, people won’t forgive you. All I urge people is to support new talents.”
