Synopsis

While filming in Haryana, superstar actor Maanav gets into an unwanted battle with Vicky, the brother of local thug-turned-politician Bhoora, ending in Vicky’s accidental death. Bhoora goes insane and seeks vengeance, the star Maanav flees into hiding; and a game of fascinating twists and turns starts.

Review

The film opens with the introduction of Maanav, the action hero and superstar. Who is arrogant but a good-hearted person. Maanav travelled to Haryana to film his forthcoming action flick, but that single shoot transformed him from a fictional action hero to a real-life action hero. Vicky, an aspiring political leader, has a verbal disagreement with Maanav, and in order to escape the situation, Maanav pushes Vicky to leave the location, but that one push causes Maanav to tumble into a pit of problems.

A superstar turns into a villain for the entire nation just because of an incident. Although the film makes no attempt to deliver a message, it unwittingly raises the issue of judgement. The movie addresses how people judge public figures without evidence and how media trials are a serious threat to the system.

In terms of stellar performances, WELCOME BACK, AYUSHMANN KHURRANA. Yes, Ayushman is making a comeback with this film. Taking the decision to play an action hero is a gutsy and excellent one. Despite the fact that Ayushmann puts taboo subjects to rest in this film he still manages to retain his quirk. Seeing him as an action hero is fascinating, and it appears that Ayushmann is back with a bang.

Speaking of Jaideep’s character Bhoora. Oh my goodness, the man is a true master of his craft. The line delivery is not only incredible but also so accurate that you can’t help but believe in what he’s doing. He doesn’t need an amplifier, his emotions, the way his eyes talk, and his body language scream for themselves.

Talking about film direction, it’s Anirudh Iyer’s directorial debut, and I applaud him for taking such a risk. Choosing a fresh storyline and putting Ayushmann in the position of action hero is a risk that not everyone can take. Brownie points to him for creating a pleasant, humorous narrative that everyone needs rather than an emotional message-giving saga.

The film is an action flick with all the necessary elements. With camera moments, Pans, and close-ups being appropriate.

When it comes to songs and the film’s background score. As an action movie, there aren’t many songs, but the background music used to generate excitement is good enough to let you feel the vibes. Also, the remix will make you want to dance in some places.

Without a question, the second half of the film is finer than the first, but the first half is the foundation upon which the film is built. The film contains several amusing situations, one of the funniest being a news show called “Naam Maanav Kaam Danav” and an actor impersonating a well-known journalist not to name but whose initials are “AG.”

Also, I don’t want to ruin the humour and suspense, so I’ll leave it a secret, but the second part of the film has a lot to reveal.

Verdict

This film undoubtedly gives fans the Ayushmann they’ve been missing. It’s a movie worth your time and money.
