Tulsi Kumar, the girl who rose to fame with ‘Tum Jo Aaye’ from Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, needs no introduction. Last year, the singer along with her sister Khushali, had released ‘Mainu Ishq Da Lagya Rog’ and very recently, they released another single for their father. ‘Mere Papa’ which is a tribute to her father was released in April. “Papa’s most loved language was music and what better way to give a tribute to papa than a song- a song that depicts the relation between a father and child. When you come together with family and do something work wise, there is always this great understanding. Khushali understands me in terms of an artiste and I have grown up to be a singer in front of her. It is a great thing that we come together to do singles and work as a team and of course people have loved us coming together and they have encouraged us to work together. So we will be collaborating again for some more singles and I guess we will be having one in October,” said an elated Tulsi.

Taking after her late father, Gulshan Kumar, Tulsi is continuing her lookout for budding talent through T-Series Stage Works Academy which is situated in Film City, Noida. Elaborating her plans for the Academy, she said, “My father used to give a lot of chance to budding talent in the field of acting and singing. My father has a big contribution in giving musicians like Sonu Nigam, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu their first break. So through this academy we are looking out for the best of talent so that we can polish it and give the industry the best. Now we want to take the academy to Bombay and Jaipur and other cities and then take it internationally of course.”

Donning several hats, Tulsi Kumar has also turned a voice over artiste for a popular kid’s edutainment channel on YouTube called Kids Hut. Being the solo voice over, Tulsi feels great to connect with kids through this medium. “This concept was designed by me and the digital team of T-Series. The channel is doing really well on YouTube. I take all the creative’s decision for the channel,” she added. The channel is available in English, Spanish, Tamil and Telugu with a view of 66M and 1Lakh subscribers.

Other than her music academy and YouTube channel, Tulsi has a plate full right now as she is busy working on singles and upcoming films like Noor, Tum Bin 2 and Wajah Tum Ho.
