Houses of flood victims will be rebuilt: Shivraj Singh Chouhan  

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that there has been no loss of life due to severe floods in the state in the recent past, but the victims have suffered due to destruction of houses, belongings etc. on a large scale. In many villages, entire houses and goods were destroyed. But people should not worry, we will rebuild their houses in the same pattern. Also, the loss of their fields, goods etc. will also be compensated to the maximum. Each and every flood victim will smile again, this is Mama’s promise.

Chouhan was taking a meeting on Sunday in connection with providing assistance to victims of floods in the state through RBC 6/4, MNREGA and other schemes.

Chouhan directed that those whose houses have been completely damaged due to floods should be provided with an amount of Rs one lakh under RBC 6/4, Rs 20 thousand under MNREGA and Rs 12 thousand for construction of toilets that is a total amount of Rs one lakh 32 thousand.

Chouhan informed that animal sheds have also been destroyed in the floods. Those animal breeders whose sheds have been destroyed and who have 5 cattle will be given Rs 70 thousand and those with 10 animals will be given Rs one lakh to build animal sheds. With this, they can get new animal sheds built. A compensation of Rs 5 thousand should also be given to the flood hit people for food grains, utensils etc.

Chouhan said that in addition to 100 days of employment in areas with natural calamities, there is a provision of 50 days of additional employment under MNREGA scheme. In this connection, permission should be obtained by writing to the central government at the earliest and additional 50 days of employment should be provided in the flood affected areas.

Chouhan directed that the public places in flood affected areas should be improved under MNREGA. Under this, works like removal of silt and dirt, shantidham repair, school boundary wall repair, repair works in markets, repair of panchayat building, sports ground improvement etc. should be done. Also, works to prevent erosion in flood affected areas, repair of water sources etc. should also be done.

Chouhan said that instructions should be issued to all collectors that the district administration and the district panchayat should extend all possible assistance in building damaged houses of the flood victims. They should take action to ensure that the material needed for construction of houses etc. is made available at reasonable prices.

Chouhan said that loans will be provided at 4 percent interest rate by the state government to the self-help groups in the state for various activities to make them self-reliant. We have to make self-help groups stand on their feet and give shape to the Prime Minister’s mantra of “Local to Vocal”. Also, the “Ek Zila Ek Utpad Yojana” of the state has to be effectively implemented. The Chief Minister said that the masks and PPE kits made by the women self- help-groups during the Covid period are of very good quality. They should be motivated to manufacture them.
